Sunday Funnies – LOLs, November 20th, 2022

I was thinking of this as a CIDU until I saw a comment at GoComics suggesting they are collecting signatures on a petition — for a candidate or for a ballot measure, we can’t say. The car does put them outdoors. Certainly there are still questions, but can we ask all to refrain from objecting to the co-occurrence of the “(Not a CIDU)” category for the LOL listing post and a stray “CIDU” categorization for the lingering doubts of this cartoon?

So it’s still snail week at BOB MANKOFF PRESENTS: SHOW ME THE FUNNY (ANIMAL EDITION).

A Sad-LOL fer shure:

Saturday Morning OYs – August 27th, 2022

A bit o’ Arlo-OY here:

Without the caption, this would make a good CIDU, but the cartoonist rose to the occasion.

Very simple OY, classic in its elegance!

You’d need to be a big fan of the Oys to enjoy the preceding run of Diamond Lil, where each order she places at the bar is filled in a way involving a visual pun. So starting here you can picture a frosty mug, a tallboy, a brewski (IDU that one), a draft, a schooner, and a growler.

EDM

This Eyebeam from Chak is a perplexing CIDU. And no relief coming from the GoComics comments.

Some “classical” composers in the later parts of the 20th Century (or we could say “new music”), did have some fun with putting scribbles and illustrations onto their scores, for performers to interpret under guidelines. I don’t know if Electronic Dance Music performers work from anything like a conventional score, but this might instead be a “transcription” score, with the artist capturing the song in notation as best they can. The cloudburst notes and shaky-lines eighths are nice touches, even if we’re not sure what they mean.

HOWEVER, none of that explains why the guru is surrounded by that music, or if the hiker/seeker is exposed to that type of music so much that he has to go climbing in the hope of getting away from it.
