Sunday Funnies – LOLs – July 26, 2026

There’s limited continuity expected in a gag strip, particularly between Sunday and the rest of the week, but there’s an interesting contrast between the Sunday strip and the Monday strip here: (7/12 and 7/13)

Reminds me a bit of that meme where you are supposed to punctuate this sentence:

Woman without her man is nothing.

Are trust falls still a thing in workshops? I do remember one time when the person doing the catching was surprised when the person fell sooner than they anticipated, and they both hit the ground. Luckily, the damage was limited to bruises and future teasing.

More Fourth Wall

Boise Ed sends this in: “Here’s nother imaginative use of the Fourth Wall idea.”

I seem to remember Dagwood used to talk to the dog for this type of monologue, not directly to the reader.

Boise Ed notes, “You don’t get much more fourth-wall than this one.”

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Mitch4 sends this in: “The two rowers were seated as though to propel the boat astern, left-to-right. The magically-appearing outboard then correctly sends the boat right-to-left.”

Jack Applin adds: “Margot, the millennial with the afro puffs, has near-supernatural abilities at times, so we can assume that she unconsciously created the outboard motor. However, why are the characters rowing backward? When you row, you pull on the oars, which sends the boat in the opposite direction that you’re facing. The bow (front) of this boat is on the left, as indicated by its shape (also, the motor appears at the right). The rowers should be facing right, not left. Perhaps this explains why they’re doing so poorly—they’re either pushing the oars, or trying to make the boat go backwards, flat end first.”

Actually, in panel 2 it’s not clear what’s going on, given the angle of the rower’s back and the oars. Is it possible the cartoonist just doesn’t understand how rowing a boat works?

They Say That Making Up is Hard to Do …

Jack Applin has a few questions about this one:

“McKenzie is making a makeup video narrated by her boyfriend.
1) Does she even have a boyfriend?
2) Why did the lipstick have no visible effect?
3) Where will she put the mascara? She has no eyelashes.
4) Did the boyfriend say something in the middle panel that made her sad in the last panel?
5) What the !@#$% is going on?”

Sunday Funnies – LOLs, September 15th, 2024

Grawlix has shared as a CIHS (Comic I Haven’t Seen) this instance, called “What’s New?”, from the strip Poorly Drawn Lines by Reza Farazmand. Grawlix sees them from time to time on Facebook, but the strip also has a website; and warns that “It does contain NSFW language from time to time, unfortunately.” Oh, and we have been unable to establish connections with musician Badly Drawn Boy.

But, another county heard from…

Not quite a CIHS, but truth to tell I’ve been looking at it rather inattentively for a while. This one made me stop, and wonder about the apparent mésalliance. Well, a little rewinding, and checking the “About” blurb, informs us that Little Pig #3’s Girlfriend is Wolfette, and is sister to the actual Big Bad Wolf — who in this retelling is still pretty bad.

Useful among the online comments — “Relationship Status: It’s Complicated”
