As seems to be the standard practice at Comic Kingdom‘s presentation of the “Bob Mankoff Presents: Show me the Funny” archive sampler, this was part of a run on a related theme — here perfumes, air fresheners, aromatherapy, and other fragrances and scents. Most had an easily discernible joke, or anyway intended joke — though since they have the New Yorker in their pedigree somewhere, it can be muted or indirect. This was the first in the thematic series without a discernible punch intention.

P.S. Has anyone seen where in the office I might have left my Calle Ocho flip box?

Saturday Morning OYs – June 3rd, 2023

It seems Diamond Lil concentrates on OY punchlines almost every day; so it would be a danger to keep too often considering them for our weekly OY collections. Still, every once in a while, maybe for no particular reason, one of them will jump out and say “Use me!”.

Sunday Funnies – LOLs, April 2nd, 2023

Now that Word Press has adjusted to occasional WEBP format images (and most of our browsers), we face a new challenge: AVIF files. Just in case it doesn’t show properly, I will follow it with a PNG conversion. But here’s hoping the AVIF will work in its given form and in future we needn’t bother producing conversions.

It’s the Final Four in college basketball, and the start of baseball season, so get ready for vicarious excitement!

Sunday Funnies – LOLs, February 19th, 2023

Here are two from dollarbill (and a third one we happened upon) with the 4th-wall or meta- theme of characters knowing they’re living in a cartoon. He mentions he has been “wading through J. C Duffy‘s humongous almost daily blog posting of comic/photos/short musings beside them sometimes,” which go back years. “Fusco Brothers is just one of his outputs.  The number of fly-in-the-soup  variations is staggering.” CIDU has sometimes featured Duffy’s Lug Nuts, somehow strikingly different in graphics appearance yet very recognizably his work.

Does this make you feel like Dark Side of the Horse is by now influencing successor generations?

Although most cats manage without mechanical mousetraps.
