Saturday Morning Oys – May 21st, 2022

From Andréa:

And which sort of meaning is invoked in “Check your privilege”?

The person sending this in said Today’s “Rubes” would qualify either for a Sunday Funnies or a
Saturday OY post
. So which one won out? Aha, Andréa found it too and says “OY (also, EW – and such a waste when folks are starving in the world)”.
A couple of OYs from Darren, who says “The unshelved is old, but I enjoyed the extra time to get it” (Old inasmuch as “This classic Unshelved striporiginally appeared on May 9, 2011.”)

… and “Along with 10 seconds before I got the loose parts ‘remorse'”:

Saturday Morning Oys – May 14th, 2022

An Oy from Andréa:

Oy by virtue of wordplay, broadly speaking

At Arnold Zwicky’s Blog he analyzes this and discusses previous comics uses of the same pun.

A trio-oy from Andréa:

But I have told my cats they are not truly brother and sisters. Even though I need to say “Now be nicer to your little sister!”

Sunday Funnies – LOLs, August 1st, 2021

Sent by Boise Ed as “Just flat-out funny, to me at least.” He also shares some info about the strip: “Andy Marlette is an editorial cartoonist in Florida who just started Shrimp and Grits this past Memorial Day. His uncle Doug was a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist and also wrote the Kudzu comic strip.”

LOL and only slightly Eww!

And what th’ heck, let’s indulge with another Liz Climo using the same idea of two species treating something according to their differing natural perspectives:

A LOL-Eww from Bob Ball, who adds: “At least she’s fully clothed in the comic.”

Introducing #TeamPinocchio (DeathMatch! update)

Since a few people suggested it, I’m making the absolutely final tweak to DeathMatch: bringing in Pinocchio, who already has three points, to replace “Gesundheit!” comics (and of course now we’ll see several of those tomorrow, but this was the final change).

Walt and Boise Ed sent me this Half Full panel:

kicking the bucket

So Death now leads #TeamPinocchio (which includes Russian nesting dolls and clown cars) 8-5.
