Saturday Morning OYs – March 25th, 2023

Almost a pun failure, as it is arguable the joke of her equivocation is already well-cemented in panel 3 and then the clues in panel 4 are just a waste. But probably it is also arguable that many a reader would miss the gag in panel 3 and there is a definite need for panel 4 …

And this dampens my hope of someday understanding what “fugue state” is or is not related to.

Yes, it’s the same David Mamet better known as a playwright.

I felt sure CIDU had somewhere printed this Bizarro:

But apparently not. It must have felt familiar because I had seen it the previous week in several places already (email, CK, Wayno’s blog, Piraro’s blog, …). But apparently not right here on these pages.

Why was I looking for it? So that I might drop into a comment on whatever post or thread the Bizarro appeared in, this 1991 Far Side, featuring the same deadly weapon, appearing just recently on the current Far Side archive site.

Thanks to Becky for this XKCD.

The rollover text (for those who insist it’s an integral part of each XKCD cartoon) was “3D graphs that don’t contact the plane in the closure area may proceed as scheduled, but be alert for possible collisions with 2D graph lines that reach the hole and unexpectedly enter the 3D space.”

Is the therapist playing off an ambiguity to humorously chide the client for being late … again?
