Sunday Funnies – LOLs – May 24, 2026

I volunteer as a tax preparer, and Illinois requires information off the driver’s license or state ID in order to process the return. One of these information items is the weight shown. That’s used to match with the information the state has, to control identity theft.

But it’s pretty obvious from comparing what’s on the license with what I see in front of me that the state makes little attempt to confirm the information given.

Sunday Funnies, LOLs – March 9, 2025

Not confusing enough to be a CIDU, but a couple of questions. There’s the English expression “Too many cooks spoil the broth”, which makes sense because you can mess up a broth or soup by messing up the seasoning (Italian herbs make a good soup; Indian spicing makes a good soup; adding both does not make a good soup). But toast?

Second, there’s 23. That’s probably just a random number pick here, but even the most casual fan recognizes 23 as Michael Jordan’s and LeBron James’s number: undeniably two of the greatest basketball players ever.

Shark week!

Shark week 2023 began July 23, so when I started this accumulation some months ago I assumed it would be the same week in 2024, and scheduled it for then. But I guess the chaos around the Discovery / HBO / Warner merger confused even the sharks, and shark week was last week.
