Are they together? Or she is warning this stranger — because generated static will disturb his listening? Or unlikely but disturbing, is she flirting by talking about the factors of her clothes going on or off?
The caption does a good job of picking up on some terminology that is deep deep geezerdom, beyond even the floppies themselves.
And I recently noticed some folks referring to the 💾emoji as “save file” rather than anything about “disk”.
From the “Ain’t it the truth!” brand of complaint humor:
The dog is up to something, hmm?
Bonus Bliss, with a somewhat less communicative canine:
When I was growing up, and my dad and uncles were into car repair, front-wheel-drive was relatively rare, and most American cars had front engine and rear drive wheels. There was a very important part called the “differential” which sat at the rear end of the drive shaft and connected also to both sides of a rear axle and the drive wheels. The informal term used for the differential was “rear end”.
Since “rear end” was also an informal substitute for “butt”, there was occasion for many a scene just like the one in this cartoon.

Sally: But you’re Jane.
Jane: Kinda stuck. It’s a long story.
And there was a sequel:
Ah, so young to be falling into the essence of Meta!
And thanks to Shamie F who sent it in and says: “I think it has something to do with a flying cup looking for a flying saucer. If that’s the whole point then OY! I’m thinking I must be missing something though.” We think the default tag here would be LOL moreso than OY (a flying saucer is called that just because of resemblance to an ordinary saucer), but how does the gang weigh in on the “is that all there is?” factor?
Here’s one from BillR:
Very smart to use Peter’s name – the others are more easily identifiable.
But on the griping side of things, the wolf I think did not emerge a winner from any of their encounters. Maybe it depends on versions of the stories.
Thanks to Michelle for this LOL bit of pained irony:
