Maybe 2008, but still not an early adopter.

Last week — 4th wall needed for a watching-the-news story. (It’s just the date formatting that makes this look like a panel from the future.)

The joke is somewhat spoiled (or at least delayed) by the way the sightlines are drawn. But it emerges that what sound like rules for a tweenage girl being left home alone are being directed to Baby Bear (the dog); who isn’t agreeing to them.
(And yes, still downloads from WaPo as .AVIF and needs pre-converting.)

And this Wondermark is not really much of a LOL, but it does provide a chuckle, and prompts me to remember encountering another sense of “Bridge club” in some novels of British India (probably Paul Scott) — it was a party with several ethnic groups invited, and intended to bridge the cultural gaps.

Two comics from Ian with the common element of unpaid internships, which he notes “seem to be everywhere at the moment!”

And finally, an Ewww-LOL from BillR. It’s the “number 2” that clinches it!

A case of breaking the third wall?

Maybe this is a bit of a CIDU — I understand how her laptop might need an OS update, or even her nails, but what’s up with the metaphors?

“Pin code”

How many of these would you call arguable?

Here’s a Quote Investigator link for “It got too crowded, nobody goes there anymore”.

Nerd alert

Lucky for me, I figured out that I don’t have to lick my cats, I can just lick my thumbs then wipe across their faces.

But then again, some do tongue-bathe:

Here’s a bit more Bliss, with likely the same characters in a different setting.

Romance???

Not everybody has the right idea about romance.

Even a mechanical heart can be stirred by love:

This was published on GoComics as the 19 December 2022 comic. Now, where’s that calculator that can tell me how many days between that date and today?

I don’t entirely understand, why is this strip treating the “valentines for everyone” as a recent school practice. Geezers will recognize it from, gosh, the 1950s…

Superbowl Sunday

Hmm, a little more acidic than we usually expect from Bliss.

An eminently reasonable request! (And Andertoons seems to have taken on a larger format.)

Yeah, one of the jokes is just too old — but the comeback is new to me, and pretty good!

A measured response to conflict won’t make the movies.

Here’s hoping all our CIDU readers are in good health, or will be soon.

A few from Guindon

There are likely some Jeopardy fans here. Isn’t is a great feeling when you get Final Jeopardy right, and none of the contestants do?

Chemgal notes that Bug Martini has been very sporadic of late, but this one brings a chuckle.

Hey, doesn’t the layout of the sticks and their backings look eerily like a face? Two eyes, round button nose, wide mouth …?

Okay, it’s nerd-amusing rather than outright hilarious …. But what a good excuse for posting a song!

Ooooh, some dark Bliss!

But published on Friday the Thirteenth, which may explain it.

Yes, it’s something of a CIDU, raising unanswered questions, even if they aren’t deep questions. Is the boy from his public family, or his secret family? And either way, what is the point of this conversation? (Besides getting to enact a takeoff on this erstwhile very standard capitalist melodrama scene.)

If you were thinking that the color version might brighten our outlook, let’s give it a try:
