Good job holding off the reveal!

A DSOH puzzler from zbicyclist:

Thanks to Andréa for this subtle groaner:

Sources say that either the exclamation “Great Scott” is not attached to any particular person with that name; or else may be associated with Sir Walter Scott, or with U.S. General Winfield Scott. But here, with the talk of Antarctica and the South Pole, surely they intend some kind of glance at famous and unfortunate polar explorer Robert F Scott?

And another from Andréa, who calls this “Barely an oy”. Also fodder for you dialectologists out there.

These “Wide Open” panels from successive weeks seem to feature the same feline character, at a similar angle. Physical angle. But the comedic angle is hard to catch.

(Posting postscript: see comment on https://cidu.info/2022/04/20/yeah-cmon-what-happened-then/)
There must be a “The Ring” besides Wagner…

And then … you evolved?
From Darren, who is amused by FTP being thought of as the old-fashioned way (and we can notice that FTP would rely on the Internet service working anyway).
Darren adds: “Cobb [this dog] is always the ‘straight man’ for setups and is sane and predictable. But in this final panel he’s pounding on the keyboard. ⁋ Also, assuming Tucker [the boy] is mentioning this because it is nearly the deadline for the homework, what is the old fashioned way that Cobb is thinking of? Presumably turning it in before leaving the class is not an option.”

Each has something like a pun from basketball terminology.

(Repeated last week from 9/6 thru 9/11 in 2010.)

It’s not fancy, it’s just funny!
