Is that the guy called “Thirsty”? Is he contradicting our expectations of him by going sober today? Or is he saying nobody needs to spike the punch, because he has seen to it?
Are office parties still a thing? And is drinking at them still a thing?
From Ian Osmond, who asks “Is just something odd that popped into his head that amused him, or does this refer to something… ANYTHING … or is there a detail that I missed that makes this make sense?”
Not quite CIDU as to overall idea, but invites explications or disputations of how each one works or doesn’t, or how some other plausible candidates could have come out.
Ignatz was first disdaining the advertised job of “brick hand”, but according to the printed subhead “Ignatz Will Love His Work” he does get employment at the Kelly brick yard. What accomplished this turnaround? Was it seeing Krazy Kat working there in panel 3? Will he be a “brick hand” or something else?
Maybe some answers are contained in the dialog written under the entrance archway in panel 4, which I really can’t make out.
From Chemgal, who says “I thought the highest possible GPA was 4.0. Are they using a different scale in Zits?” She mentions she can think of a possible explanation, and I think I know what it is too, but even if it’s not a full CIDU there may be enough uncertainty for people to discuss as a Semi-CIDU.
This Beetle Bailey is from 1965-05-17, and appeared in ComicsKingdom retro series recently on Thursday 2021-12-02. I wasn’t aware that spray-painting would be part of helmet maintenance, but I guess why not? But what exactly is going on in the aftermath scene that is puzzling the General? Has the grass in general been painted an odd color, but not inside the helmet outlines where it was shielded? But those patches don’t look like they’re supposed to be natural grass. Or has the procedure somehow damaged / killed off the grass inside the helmets, and left it normal outside?
We all know one of the standard time-travel puzzlement plots involves killing Hitler young. But what are the stories about smuggling him away in your luggage?
Call me hidebound and oldfashioned, but I don’t always think open-ended and unresolved are better. MAYBE someone with a lot of insight into snoring does have a principled way of matching these up. But without that, or an official answer key, you have to resort to “Oh, just posing the question is funny, and gives us a chuckle about how much snoring goes on and how bad it is.” But is that really enough?
Is there a song we should be familiar with that *is* about fish and this performer might have in his repertoire? Or wait, that he might have been getting requests for and had to decline?
From Stan, saying “I have one or two ideas about this, but they don’t really hold much water. Wouldn’t mind a solid explanation if one exists. Also, why didn’t Dagwood just drive Herb all the way home? It couldn’t have been too far out of his way.”
