Both put by Andréa in the comments, and the second one was also submitted by Pete.

For those of you who haven’t been following the (long, long) discussion in the Random Comments thread, Bill’s son, Aaron Bickel, has very generously given some of us CIDU commenters the ability to administer this blog. We hope to get a regular posting schedule going soon, but for now new posts may be a little erratic.
The queue is empty right now (I lifted this one from a comment by Andréa), so if you have new submissions, please send them to the new editors’ e-mail in the FAQ.

I am currently trying to convince somebody that it was created in the 1950s, originally intended to be stocked in fallout shelters where it would provide enough calories to allow people to exist for the twenty-odd years until it was safe to come out.

Apparently three weeks ago, there was some expectation that municipal fireworks displays would be happening today.
(Let’s not even discuss why Id would have 4th of July fireworks: Id and BC-land exist outside of rational space and time, and we just have to accept that)

Firecracker was loud.
It hurt his ears.
And the joke is…?
Father’s Day has gone virtually ignored today.
It never gets the attention of Mother’s Day, of course, but seriously…
(Spider-Outlier)

… but can’t the syndicate at least pretend to make an effort?
