Update after this post was first scheduled, the next strip came out, and in it the organist dies.

So maybe the first strip doesn’t have a joke at all, just setting up a serial storyline? Moving up another post, since I suspect there’s not a lot to discuss here. But I’ll leave this post up, in case I’m wrong.

There’s some mix of Nike’s “Just do it”, Stephen King’s novel IT, and I.T. as abbreviation for Information Technology — but how those are supposed to be cooked into a coherent joke is beyond us.

Does the dad’s complaint make any sense? Hasn’t Disney always had huge piles of merchandise associated with their movies?
I enjoyed the ending anyway, just not sure where the complaint in the first panel is coming from.
