Ron sends this in:

Dirk the Daring wonders about this one: “This makes no sense. If he is paid by the hour he’d take his time and dawdle. Maybe I’m missing something, it seems back-assward to me.”

Kedamono sends this in as an “Ewww”: “I mean, YouTube videos on potty training? Yikes! Also, isn’t he a bit too young to have his own phone?”

1) Potty training videos need not be graphic. Sesame Street made some.
2) It may not be “his” phone; it might be a parent’s phone he borrowed to watch videos on.

I think “paid by the hour” is meant to contrast with “salaried” rather than “paid by the trip, or the message count”. So he experiences no penalty for dawdling. Nor for the (inefficient) system of riding out every time he has even one message to deliver.

The girl scout one is clearly by someone who has never had to help a kid with a sale. Selling seeds? Selling just about anything? You need help like this kid has. Selling girl scout cookies? Put up a small sign and then try not to get trampled in the stampede.

I’ll order some Lemonades if you got ’em! (Or is that Lemon-Ups?)

Chak: The girl scout isn’t the one who needs help, the driver is. And since anyone will buy girl scout cookies, the driver will gladly do it to get out of speeding ticket ‘deep doo-doo’.

Just yesterday, some neighbor kids came door-to-door selling lemonade.
And I have to agree with Dirk.

The thing about selling Girl Scout Cookies is that all the girls in the troop are competing in the same market. It’s a cutthroat business. You’ll have six co-workers in your office bringing you order forms to help out their kids. The nice policeman is just doing what most parents of Girl Scouts do.
