Most people who remember playing “Kick the Can” have, in fact, kicked the bucket.
Job skills for the coming economy — or at least coming years of education.

The second one was definitely a LOL for me, though they were all amusing. I’d like to see a variant where they were in a swimming pool and were told “Don’t let our pet cuttlefish bother you.”
I think most people think of “kick the can” in the political context, as in “I see the committee has decided to kick the can down to the next session on the new zoning requirements.”
Not just political. “Kick the can down the road” is used by many for a temporary solution that allows procrastinating the harder, more involved, or more expensive real solution. I’m a master at it.
The tailgate window of the Venerable Bronco broke. The shop said the metal is too rusted to mount a new motor, so the tailgate probably needs to be replaced. So I opened it up, disconnected the window from the regulator, pushed it all the way up and braced it with 2x4s. At least the rain doesn’t get in so I can think about it.
Note that this doesn’t really pertain to the kid’s game of “Kick The Can”. That was one from the days when kids hung around all summer outside.
