I don’t get it. The couple in the tan car aren’t colored. Is that a colorist’s error, or part of a joke?

Is the joke just that they’re literally driving through the restaurant because it’s built over a road? If there’s some significance to the couple being grey, other than the fact that they’re driving through it too, then I’m stumped.
I think colorist’s error, yeah. I agree with Stan that it’s just being literal about a “drive-through” restaurant. I do think it’s a nice touch that Thompson drew a “used to be a Pizza Hut” style building (if you ignore the tunnel).
