Slide into My DMs!

Boise Ed sends this in: “I have no idea what’s going on with this playground.”

When your editor thinks of DM, he thinks of District Managers, which is no help at all.

From Merriam-Webster:

“DM stands for “Direct Message,” which is a private message sent between two users on a social media platform, messaging app, or online community” (Merriam-Webster)

Dating/relationships: “Slide into my DMs” is a common phrase for initiating a private conversation, often with flirtatious or romantic intent”.

That sort of helps. So the slide is flirting with the swing set? Is that it?

Just a stupid pun, the slide is going to slide into …

I’m known for bad puns but even I wouldn’t stoop (slide?) this low.

It’s not the slide’s fault really. Truthfully their relationship had no momentum, but the swings kept going back and forth.

I’m with phsii, it’s just a silly pun. The playground slide wants to slide into somebody’s DM… I think the slide is just the next obvious piece of playground equipment to draw. Pretty weak comic, in my opinion.

Slide into my direct messages. For those platforms like Twitter and Facebook where you usually make public posts and add public comments to them, but you can send a private message to someone. Which the slide is trying to do with its cell phone. And as zbicyclist notes, the fact that those two swing may be significant.

I’d never heard of that “Slide into my DMs” phrase. It would seem to explain the whole thing.
