In the first one each spouse appears to he hoping the other will get up out of bed so they don’t have to. I’m single so I can only infer.

I think the point in the first strip is simply that each spouse hopes the other will do it. I don’t so much see it as being about women generally or even this woman. It’s just that the joke requires the spouses’ thoughts to be shown sequentially.
