First comes the hatchet
then comes the axe
then we fall down
after a couple of whacks.

H-O-W-L-I-N-G
First comes moonrise
then come the change
then the devouring
all who’re in range

This is fun. May post more later.

2. It doesn’t fit the rhyme scheme at all, but one of the “very alarming” words appears in “Sir Greenbaum’s Madrigal” by Allan Sherman:

”All day with the slaying and slewing and smiting and smoting like Robin Hood

Oh, wouldst I could kick the habit and give up smoting for good”

3. There for all of us to see.

If you missed their matinee,

4. Kevin and Amy
sitting in a tree,
K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
First comes love,
then comes marriage
then comes baby in a baby carriage…

– – –

Then comes the huge fight with Kevin’s mother about the decision not to circumcise the baby. Then comes the visit from the rabbi Kevin’s mother has sent to talk to Kevin and Amy about the importance of circumcision even though Kevin had warned her that if she sent the rabbi he wasn’t going to open the door.”

More her in this short humorous article by Sam Apple: If the “Sitting in a Tree/K-I-S-S-I-N-G” Song Had Gone on Longer and Been Inspired By My Life – McSweeney’s Internet Tendency (mcsweeneys.net)

5. C-H-O-K-I-N-G

First comes gasping,

The come the tics,

Then comes the maneuver

Made by Heimlich.

You’re right, Chipper42. This is fun.

6. This was one of the songs used to taunt other children who were friends across the sex line (boy and girl who were friends) – and they were generally much too young for dating.  Actual kissing did not have to been observed or done by the couple.

7. Steven King’s short story “Bad Little Kid” in “The Bazaar of Bad Dreams”.
