You get to vote here: is the cat giving money to Big Ornament to pay for replacements, or is Big Ornament paying the cat for breaking ornaments, so they need replacement?
This is fine! But tickles the memory cells – haven’t we recently seen a cartoon with just about the same joke?

I’m not convinced that the cat is taking a bribe. Cats are famous for destroying ornaments (don’t I know). He has a look like “Oh I’m in trouble”. To me, he placed an order for more ornaments to rectify the situation.

In one of the Thin Man movies Nick Charles (William Powell) discusses the clues with a friend in a cheap diner. Asta the dog is also seated in the booth. A surly waitress appears with a plate.
WAITRESS: Who gets the raw hamburger?
NICK: Me.

There was an earlier one very similar and I can’t find it now. Same set up except the dog is a partner. Dog is sitting in a rug cleaning van outside a house and the guy says something like “you know what to do.” It was either Off the Mark or Rubes or a similarly drawn and humor style.
