For the record, the Moderation Beast is insatiable today, and I’ve been rescuing at least a few comments every hour.
Well… it’s not as if I have anyplace to go.

If, when I’m looking through the comments, I spot an obvious typo, I will often fix it.
First, because as an editor it would drive me crazy not to.
Second, because as you know I’m a very careless typist (as many editors are), and it doesn’t seem fair that I can correct by own errors while other people can’t.
Same as the Late-2019 list (which is being closed because it’s gotten too long) and the previous versions, this will be accessible indirectly from the Your Random Comments link in the left sidebar. I wish WordPress made this simpler, but then I wish a lot of things.
[Edit Oct 1, 2020 EditorM: We’re trying placing all these Random Comments series in the left sidebar for direct access. Let’s see how it looks and try it out.]
Please remember that this is intended for public comics-related (or comics semi-related) comments only: if you want to send me a CIDU, or a comic for some specific folder (Ewww, Oy, etc), or you want to inform me of a typo, please e-mail me at
.
Also: A list of the site’s most recent comments can be found in the left sidebar. A database of all the comments, compiled by larK, is here.
And the site’s FAQ is here.

Six people have sent this to me so far, which I’m pretty sure is a record. So…
The past week or so, a lot of people have made comments, both here and in private e-mail, about what puts a comment into Moderation. A lot of “every time I do this I end up there,” or “I always do this so I never end up there.”
I understand the human desire to bring order to chaos, so it pains me to say — as the person who rescues comments from Moderation — that apparently all the theories are wrong: there are a few words that trigger Moderation, and always have, but other than that it really is random. Where you post from doesn’t matter. Links don’t matter. Having a Samoan e-mail address doesn’t matter.
What triggers Moderation one day might not the next day.
One of my comments ended up in Moderation last week, and that’s supposed to be impossible.
Y’all feel free to continue speculating if you want, but you’d have better luck trying to ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.
Well, I guess they’re okay with warm weather, but there’ll probably be other adjustments.
Fluffy Bunny Slippers’s comment in the “Speaking of ‘Operation’…” post was the 40,000th comment since the site was resurrected just under two years ago (coming in the 2050th post).
Oddly enough, as far as I can tell, not one of those comments came from a Samoan.
It’s not just you: the Moderation Filter went on a rampage tonight. I think it was desperate to meet a 2019 quota.
… and my trip left me further behind on my e-mail and it’s going to get worse before it get better; so if you want to send me any Christmas- (or Chanukah-) related comics, please give me a heads-up in the subject line.
