Fiat Lux!

I was texting with a friend when the power suddenly came on and I wrote FIAT LUX!!! and she responded with ?????

Anyway, tonight’s update shall happen.

What do y’all think? Post the three CIDUs that went unused, or just stick them at the end of the queue?

We started making up a list of (not-obvious) things to do ahead of the next once-in-a-decade meteorological event (which will probably be Hurricane Josephine next week, the way 2020 is going), and I’ve already added “Queue up CIDU for a week ahead.”

Okay, SOMETHING’S returning to normal

Because so many people were stuck at home, we’ve been sharing daily wake-up music; and also, I’ve been posting two regular CIDUs every weekday: one at the normal 12:02am Eastern Time, and another around noon. As always there were often other posts during the day, but those two were set in stone.

Today we return to our The World is Slightly Less %@#$ed Up schedule: a CIDU at 12:02am, and other posts whenever.

This probably won’t result in Comicgeddon 2, but…

WordPress is rolling out what’s apparently going to be major dashboard changes Monday. If nothing goes wrong, the changes should be invisible to y’all.

But since GoDaddy destroyed the previous incarnation of CIDU during routine server maintenance (shortly after my wife’s computer was wiped clean during a Windows 10 update), I can’t help being a bit apprehensive, and it can’t hurt to plan for the worst.

So in case the site disappears tomorrow, or it’s still here but I can’t access it, anybody interested can reach me for updates at cidu email

(I’ll remove this post Monday, assuming I can)

Hopefully this isn’t as ominous as it sounds…

WordPress tells us that “new and exciting changes” are coming to the user’s dashboard on June 1.

There’s no indication what this means.

Worst case scenario: Comicgeddon 2.0.

Best case scenario: a dashboard that already imposes more limits than it did two years ago will become even more difficult to use.

And yes, it is possible they’re rolling out improvements that will enhance everybody’s lives — but how often is that what “new and exciting changes” really means?

And let’s be honest, this is 2020.

Re: Corrections

Since this has come up several times recently…

If you want me to make some spelling correction in a comment you made (or if you spot a typo of mine that bothers you), the best (and only efficient) way to let me know is by emailing me at cidu email.

For the record, when I scan through recent comments (I see them all in one place) and spot an obvious error, I’ll usually just go in and fix it.
