Um… Shouldn’t it be “Pedants”?
Is it my imagination, or have we been seeing a run of comics that are just mean-spirited rather than attempting to be funny?
Just a small sampling…
Please note that I’m not singling out any particular comics or artists here: this just seems to be an overall trend, and I’m sure there’ll be several other examples before next weekend.

Something I’ve been wondering about Mutt and Jeff…
Were jokes like this new when they appeared in the strip, or were they already old chestnuts?
I assume he meant “comic strip characters”?
Because a cartoon character who doesn’t speak would be more like this:

I read this just as the sky was lighting up for about the tenth time over the past thirty seconds. I’ve hardly ever seen this sort of wrath-of-God weather.
Followed a couple of minutes later by my phone lighting up with TORNADO WARNING! TAKE SHELTER NOW!
(We don’t get tornadoes in New Jersey)
And next, maybe we’ll vote on whether Han shot first
Yesterday, Francesco Marciuliano posted that a Utah newspaper objected to the first comic (the color one), so he had to rewrite the middle panel just for them.
Maybe it’s just me, but… while I like both versions, I think the second one is funnier.
