So:
Is Horace dreaming of Melody beside him, and when he wakes up, his dream girl disappears?
Did they both suddenly realize they left the oven on, and Melody left to turn it off?
Did Horace come up with an idea, but the Melody left when she found out the idea just draws bugs?
Or … ?
Seems to be the bugs, which are barely visible in Panel 3.

My impression is that this is an inverted “shadow” gag, similar to several that have appeared at “Back to B.C.” in recent weeks. The light from the “idea” bulb wipes out Horace’s shadow.

It looks like Horace had a sudden – let’s say “romantic” – thought, which Melody wasn’t too keen on, and now he’s left with the bugs attracted to his bright idea light.
