Is the sandwich glued together, to hold its perfect stacking after being violently tossed or knocked aside when the person fell?
I interpreted it as the plant getting annoyed at the impoliteness of talking with a full mouth and smacking Whoever That Is in the in face.

In particular, the shadow of the plant is double the linear dimensions of the actual plant, and above it, meaning there’s a small source of illumination on the floor a short distance away. Why? And … it has to be incredibly bright, for that shadow to be visible when it’s bright day outside and the window is uncurtained.

I don’t get it either, but the more I look at it the more the angles of the shadows bother me.

It is just a joke around the contradictory notions of not talking while your mouth is full vs. talking to your plants.
Both pieces of advice are good, but don’t do them at the same time or (and here is the attempted humor), something drastically bad might happen.
Seems like it is just trying to make a joke out of the contradictory advice people are given, like “Fools rush in..” vs. “He who hesitates..”
