Is donut choir a pun for something?
No clue. Googling suggests “Combining a cannabis-infused edible with your favorite lyrics and beats can actually trigger a stronger emotional response to music”, also talks about it being a bad idea to combine weed with Lyrica (pregabalin, a drug for things like diabetic neuropathy).
None of those help here, though.
Anything to do with “Justified and Ancient” by The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu ‧ 1991 which I think has featured here previously though what that has to do with doughnuts (Brits put the “ugh” in doughnuts) I have no idea?

I think evadgib more-or-less nailed it when it came around last time. It’s a reference to the Kilted Donut Choir, which had a thing about being “lyrical, spherical, and diabolical.” (And let me add as a curmudgeon that I hate that their name is “Donut” rather than “Doughnut,” forcing me to use the dumb version of the word.)

Yeah, I got nuttin’, but . .
The “we’re lyrical and edible” bit would fit well into Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible.”
How can it be permissible?
They compromise my principles, yeah, yeah
They’re lyrical and edible
Their taste is quite incredible
They’re a craze you’d endorse
They’re a powerful force
You’re obliged to consume
When they’re brought in the room
They used to taste good to me
But now I find ’em
Simply irresistible
Simply irresistible

I thought of “Modern Major General.”
— and so these giant donuts are both edible and lyrical
But they’re rarely seen around the town; to find one is a miracle.
