Meow? It’s a New Yorker cartoon so, you know…Nonetheless, what?

Combining the concepts of an Internet café (a place where you can use Internet-connected computer workstations for a small fee, usually while enjoying light snacks and drinks) with a cat café (a place where you can visit adoptable cats for a fee, usually while enjoying light snacks and drinks).
I’d say it’s just a kinda cute literalization of an alternate parsing of “Internet cat café”. Usually, a café where people use the Internet and cats are present. But here, a café for cats to use the Internet.
I’m with Chak. I think it would have been a better comic if people were trying to use the computers but the cats were walking and sleeping on the keyboards.
Hm, my first association was with the old wisdom, that the internet is full of cats, i.e. cute cat picture, cute cat videos, cats doing cute things videos,… you get the picture.
So, this is an internet café full of cats.
This gives a nice juxtaposition, but not much more…
(I would also vote for the version with cats keeping people from using the computers at all.)

I agree with both comments, but I wonder how it is that no cat is sleeping on the keyboard.

They’ve all had too much coffee to sleep.

Doesn’t anyone here speak French? The comic’s headline is missing an “H”, it should have been titled “Internet Chat Café“.

If it were dogs they’d be sitting around playing cards and smoking cigars.

Nice pun-observation. But comment was spoiled by the combative way you brought up the subject.

Here’s one, in Boston, a block from where I used to live (although it wasn’t there then, unfortunately). https://www.asanctuarycafe.com/

I read a series of “cozy mysteries” set in a cat cafe.
