The woman who ordered the matcha latte is the same woman who’s taking the orders. She’s not sitting to the right while she’s standing taking orders (though she’s very fast shifting, including putting on and taking off an apron). Her sisters are a bit bewildered by this. Not a strip I follow; I assume this would be funnier if you knew the people involved.

The premise of Wannabe is that all three of the central characters have failed to launch. In the case of Margot (the sister/server), she essentially can do anything but never knows how to make it work out for herself. So if somebody is getting drinks for the table, naturally it will be Margot. The “schizophrenia” comment is just an acknowledgement of Margot’s two roles.

Side question: should the question be that she hopes that schizophrenia isn’t genetic and not hereditary. She’s not going to inherit it from her sister, but would be concerned if there was a genetic component. Yes, I’m being pedantic, but the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet.

Yes, and as such is following an error which used to be popularly very widespread — to use “schizophrenia” understood as “split personality” in the sense of what was termed “multiple personality disorder” or MPD and has subsequently had some revised terminology, with an acronym of DID.

“DID is a trauma-based, dissociative disorder characterized by two or more distinct personality states (alters). Schizophrenia is a, typically genetic, psychotic disorder marked by a “split” from reality, characterized by hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking, with no personality shifts.”

    Adding:
    1) I hadn’t seen Rob W’s comment (3) when writing my previous (4), but I would agree.
    2) In the pictures of the products, Maud’s packaging has a nice little pun: Game, Set, Matcha Latte.

I used to order a Yerba Mate Latte, and one time the barista mistakenly made me a Matcha Latte. I can make my own now by boiling fresh grass clippings in whole milk.
