Is he Sirius?

(Yes, that’s a cheesy pun about the Pandora music service, which is owned by SiriusXM)

Scott’s comics are often mildly surrealistic, but I got nothing with this one. “Opening” a banana releases “yellow” into the world?

We know Pandora had a box (no sniggering, you!) and that opening it released hope, but how does that relate to a banana?!

Calling someone “yellow” can mean calling them cowardly. But I can’t force that into a clear contrast (or similarity?) to the general evils that were released when the box was opened.

Pandora had a “pithos” in Greek, which should be translated to jar instead of box. “Pandora’s pithos” has alliteration going for it that “Pandora’s box” doesn’t.

Sorry, obscure myth knowledge didn’t provide any banana insights…

I can’t say I get it, either. The only thing I can come up with is that what Midas is to touching, Pandora is to opening things. Everything she opens will let loose something or other into the world. If that is the joke, and I’m not sure it is, I can’t tell if she is letting yellow loose into a black and white world or just some sort of banana essence. I don’t think it matters what is actually being let loose if that is that joke.
