Sunday Funnies, LOLs – February 23, 2025

Chemgal sent this in as an OY, but we’d already posted it as a LOL. They’re probably right, but it was already here. :)

This reminds me of those ads for PCs in the 1980s, when the first CGA monitors became practical. The ads would proudly show a pie chart, illustrating that the monitor would display colors and could draw a nearly perfect circle. The humor of those ads for me is (1) how many users would ever make a pie chart, and (2) pie charts are seldom the best way to show data.

Sometimes I get cynical about Frazz and its attempts to be clever and teach us a lesson. But this one is genuinely clever, and quite amusing!

I agree with Brian in STL. On a pie chart, it is very easy to see 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6 and so on. Maybe because it’s pie. It’s difficult to tell 1/4 from 1/6 on a bar graph.

‘…you are going to turn me into a statistic.’ What is meant by that? My mind goes to a very dark place, considering the violence that takes place in American schools on a fairly regular basis, and the fact that teachers are legally allowed to carry guns in certain states (Utah allows teachers with concealed carry permits to bring guns into classrooms without informing parents, students or school administrators). Additionally, that phrase is far more commonly associated with one becoming part of a tragic data set rather than being used in a lighthearted sense.

Is she about to shoot Caulfield?
