A teller (from “tell”, to count, as money) may have a till to count the money into, but although you might think “tell” and “till” are related, Mitch4’s reference shows that they have completely different origins.
If Mr. Jones has a writing instrument, that would be Pen(n) & Teller.
I hope to see a return to spelling out till as a proper word unto itself, in the time-relation sense equivalent to until — that is, I oppose writing it as ’til with the purported understanding as an abbreviation or contraction of until.
Speaking of “Mister Jones” , what do you make of this rendition of “Ballad of a Thin Man”!? (Supposed to start at 15:13, which I mention in case the YouTube mechanism for building that into the link doesn’t work. )
I jumped to the beginning of the clip (it seems they tried to do the whole of the LP), and gotta say, their version of “Like a Rolling Stone” is not to be missed!
There is a group with a YouTube channel called Postmodern Jukebox that does a similar concept, with more recent hits done in a retro style of some sort.
Interesting differences in their approaches. I think the PMJ is more sincere about creating a “product” that is actually going to be good, whereas Jazzified is to some extent more going for shock value. Also, as you point out, the songs they cover are from somewhat different eras — which may account in part for my “shock value” reaction, as the corpus Jazzified is working on is more my “youth heritage”.
Also I was confused by comments on some of the Jazzified clips suggesting the commenters thought these were AI-generated. Could that be??

Thanks, Brian!
