Happy Halloween!

Besides the popular candy collection event, today is “Reformation Day” (in honor of Luther’s 95 theses), and here at CIDU it just happens to be Meryl A.’s birthday. Since she hasn’t been able to reschedule her day of honor, we will just have to wish her a very “Happy Birthday!” today.

Halloween is supposed to be a nice, innocent holiday, but some folks misinterpret it:

Then there are others who go really overboard:

Some kids are more scary than others:

Although very dated, this costume is still scary, too:

On the lo-cal news tonight, they had a bit that SiriusXM is starting the Christmas music tomorrow. Apparently they add a bunch of stations for the purpose.

My apologies – I did not get the site to read the usual week worth’s of strips I read until today (half a week late) so I did not get a chance before to thank you for my mention. Thank you!!

I will run on, as I do, and feel free to get rid of the post-

We used to go to Lancaster, PA for a few days for my birthday as Halloween is less prevalent there, especially among the Amish restaurants and stores, but we have not traveled much since Covid hit.

In the decades before we were able to travel for my birthday and be away on the actual day, we would go to one or another Chinese restaurant for dinner on my birthday, having found that the staff at same did not dress up for the holiday and fewer people, if any, were in costume.

So this year we went to the Asian buffet we normally go to once a week, for dinner out on my birthday/Halloween. As we were eating more and more people – including small children – who came in there to eat were dressed in costume. Only thing I can figure about this sudden change from past years is that there is a high school next door to the shopping center which the restaurant is in and they must have had some Halloween event at same and then people with their children all came in – in costumes – at about the same time to have dinner. (We eat dinner out midweek – not talking about Halloween, but normally, as fewer people there, since Covid varying between Tues and Thurs nights depending on a variety of things including the weather – we ARE getting too old – and I had suggested going on Wednesday night, but he insisted on going on Halloween.) He apologized for being there with so many people in costume – and said “you were right – we should have come last night”. C’est la’vie.

Again thank you, and feel free to not to post or cut the post.
