    In the Harvard Lampoon’s “Bored of the Rings” parody, a creature called a “Thesaurus” shows up in chapter 5 (“Some Monsters“). It is described as “…about fifty feet tall, with wide lapels, long dangling participles, and a pronounced gazetteer.” When attacking the fellowship, it roars, “Maim! … Mutilate, mangle, crush. See Harm“, and while devouring one of their sheep, it says “Eatable, … edible, esculent, comestible. See Food.”

    P.S. Shortly thereafter, they meet up with the dreaded “Ballhog”…
