One year in college I taped a poster of Guernica up on the wall of the shared livingroom of my dorm suite. . I think the room was probably as messy as the one shown in this cartoon, but minus the good creature comforts.
For a short while (somebody must have explained it to me) I thought my poster was relatively cheap because they reduced it to mostly black&white with some sepia tones. But that’s what it looks like, and is pretty important to its “meaning”.

But I still am not sure if my 17-y.o. self would have wanted something like the lower example, and settled for the dimmed-out one!

Dorothy to Toto: “You shall now be called Rooter.”
I’ve seen several fairly lame reactions to the Mickey Mouse bit, and I’m not usually a fan of Tom the Dancing Bug, but this one definitely hits the spot.
I saw the “untidy painting” comic the other day in my Facebook feed, on my phone, so it was good to see it here much larger and clearer on my PC.
Note that Mickey is carefully depicted in black and white in his spoofs here, though I have read a couple of comments stating that the lobby poster of the period does show him in his red shorts.
