The LOL factor here is in the particular expression she uses, combining passive “been informed” with “I want”.

Good point, Powers, a lot of relevant setting and background got left out of the “Reply All”. But I’d guess she’s talking to her therapist; and talking about either her office interactions or friends — not a big difference either, since her friends seem to also work with her.
Yes, therapist’s office — notice the Kleenex dispensing box on the table. Also, at home she wouldn’t have a mask on, and probably wouldn’t have that purse or briefcase right by her side.
Probably the wording is weird because some people tell you “You’re going to want to blah, blah, blah.”, when they mean “You really should (or need to) change what you are doing to blah, blah, blah.” Thus, she’s been informed that she wants to write less aggressive emails.

That way of telling you what to do is only fractionally less disturbing than “I’m going to need you to blah blah blah”.
Everybody else seems understanding about that gray thing covering her but I’m baffled. Is it a shawl, a blanket, a sweater pulled off the shoulders, a cut-down straitjacket?
Nope, I don’t know what it is , either. I guess “a wrap” of some kind would fit — but it doesn’t actually fit, as drawn, come to think. At our left it doesn’t seem snug against her upper arm. The clasp on the front, though it does fit your suggestion of a strait-jacket, might be a fancy button with a long string.
