There was something about the lead-in guitar and drum sound that reminded me of Rush, and it wasn’t just because both of the bands are (or were) Canadian. The feeling left as soon as the vocals started, of course.

Echo Beach was a place they made up for the song. In 2011, a concert venue by Lake Ontario called Echo Beach opened here in Toronto (the band’s hometown) I have not been there. Wikipedia claims the band had some success with other songs and albums in Canada but I really can’t recall any other songs, although I was a teen during their heyday and very musically aware. I guess I knew they existed but mostly thought they weren’t so good (aside from this).
