Their spaceship is the grill. They came back to see it defiled. Notice the ladder and landing lights.
Not so much defiled as set on fire. Also, apparently the syndicate’s colorist decided to use some expressionism, expressing their depression by rendering the entire scene in muddy grays and dark earth tones.
Oh, I didn’t notice the ladder on the side of the “grill.”
The colorist must have been in an “old-timey” mood and went all sepia with the color scheme.
