Hospital chaplain here. A “widow maker” is a STEMI (ST segment Elevated Myocardial Infarction). It’s the heart attack that kills otherwise (presumably) healthy 40-50-60 year olds. It is serious enough that I get a special alert on my phone when a patient is coming in so I know immediately what is happening. Two days ago, though, we had an 89 year old woman survive one; last night she was awake and talking and wanting to get out of the bed. You just never know!
