At first, the overdescriptive adjectives on the first panel made me wonder whether Hilburn was the artist with the squirrel. I think it would have worked better with just “A message from the Podfather.“
If they had cut off the tail and left the curve of the body it would have worked even though it still wouldn’t be just the head. That it was a whole seahorse bugged me too.
The Codfather, with the “C” closer to the hard “G” would be a a more technically correct pun, but it would have been extremely unoriginal.
Marine Mafia Message is a prime example of the strips that are better when the reader makes a quick exit from it. (For me, there was a brief moment of forgiveness for the head-ed seahorse. I was *going* to comment that I thought the bubbles coming out of the dolphin was a nice touch because I had stopped thinking they were underwater. (Then it hit me. “HEY, what? .. awwww”)
LOL!

My one quibble is that it shouldn’t be an entire seahorse.
We won’t get into why Gboard fixed up quibble into wine.

Perhaps the Hilburn would have been better with “A message from the Codfather”

But if it had only been a head, you probably wouldn’t have been able to tell it was a sea horse.

That second one…3 jokes, and they’re all painful.

If it were “Codfather”, then the recipient would have needed to be a fish. Pod is the correct term for a group (or family) of dolphins.

A fish and a seahorse head would work for the Codfather. But that wouldn’t be original nor creative. But Podfather for dolphins is both.
The “Marine Mafia Message” is inexplicably cluttered though.
