It looks like the dad’s dreaming about naked beach volleyball, and the kid is saying his final line in an exasperated tone. I read it like this: ‘Daaaaaad, they…didn’t…have…beach…volleyball….oooookkkaaayyyy? Sheesh!’ Makes it work for me.
I don’t know if it actually makes any difference to the reading – but the “kid” is an adult, with a child in school (she’s not present in this particular strip). Other than that, I agree with Stan.
BTW, ESPN the magazine (which I have no idea why it exists) does an annual “Body” issue with tastefully naked athletes, male and female. So it ain’t just me.
It’s from 6 years ago, actually. I think the date says 2012, which makes sense because Misty May-Treanor didn’t participate in the 2016 Games. Kerri Walsh-Jennings had a different partner that year.
