This article is a year old, but it showed up an hour after I responded to somebody who sent me the McGarry cartoon as a CIDU.
Not the world’s best article, by the way, but that’s not really the point.

Have we been seeing a lot more guillotine comics than usual lately?
I know, these things run in cycles, but this just seems like an odd one.

Does this comic work if you aren’t immediately familiar with this?

The concept of these strips seems to be “actual lies your parents told you in order to keep you stupid” rather that “exaggeration for humorous effect.”

My wife just sneezed in the next room, and this came up the exact second I was calling out “Gesundheit!” It was actually disconcerting for a moment.
