My guess is that each dude starts typing a response, but then sees the dots indicating that the other is responding, and is waiting for the response before continuing, and they are in a standoff.

Guero has it @3; it’s a high-tech version of the classic stare contest. The first one to blink (or in this case: “tap on send”) loses.

It’s actually pretty good if you really slow down and look at the details, which I do not usually do with comic strips. Note the thumbs quivering over the send buttons.

Angel Eyes and Tuco the Rat from The Good The Bad And The Ugly, in the three-way gunfight. Blondie (Clint Eastwood) is not present.

It’s curious how this commenting box shows my name and picture, with a “Log out” link implying that it knows who I am, and yet the “Like” star just causes a blank login window to pop up and immediate go away, instead of registering the “Like.”

Ed: Yeah, WordPress is often too complex for its own good. The other day it tried to make me login when it shouldn’t, and then changed its mind and correctly decided I was logged in already. Srsly, WTF.

Fascinating. Thanks to guero and the CIDUvians for explaining it and sharing the clips. I don’t text very much and I have not seen any of the pertinent movies.

Consul: well, there’s no singing (but an epic soundtrack). So, kinda like grand opera but with quieter acting, but maybe the same number of deaths. Really well worth seeing, no matter your likes or dislikes.

After “What’s Opera Doc?” I could never take anything operatic seriously. Love classical music though.
