As Gumby gets old, he needs dentures, and only has gums left. But since he was generally not animated with visible teeth, his entire mouth clay ring is now a denture, left to soak overnight.
Ian, I’d never heard of Morph but yeah, he looks like a Gumby clone. Or at least Gumby-adjacent.
I looked at the Wikipedia entry for Gumby and was surprised to see there’s still some life in the franchise. I had thought the last gasp was Eddie Murphy’s character on SNL (“I’m Gumby, dammit!”), which was oddly hilarious. I think it was so funny due to the combination of this Gumby being Black, aggressive, and profane(ish).
Huh, in my memory, Gumby had a Christian theme; that seems to be wrong–the same guy did Davey and Goliath, which was explicitly Christian, but Gumby was not.
No teeth (lips?) only gums.

I’m pretty sure any Gumby reference qualifies as “Hey Geezers! Comics!”

Thank you. I’d never heard of Gumby. I guess the UK equivalent would be Morph.

You have to remember Gumby’ss moth, that’s what is in the denture glass….

And I resent the geezer reference, however apt.
