Comics I Haven’t Seen: TBD

When I posted one of these as an LOL, I noticed there were no previous tags of this comic, and the archive on Comics Kingdom only goes back to December, 2024. So, all new to me, at least. Here’s the blurb on the Comics Kingdom site:

“TBD (Toons by Dan) is a curated collection of single-panel cartoons by award-winning cartoonist Dan Misdea. Featuring some of his best, worst, and weirdest ideas, this series includes never-before-seen cartoons, once rejected by The New Yorker and beyond. Now, they’ve been reimagined and redrawn in a familiar, timeless format for your enjoyment. “

Agreed. I first saw it a few weeks ago in the dailycartoonist column, then added it to my list.

I hope Santa never switches to gift/debit cards – I hate them and debit cards in general.

Currently have one that has 78c left on it – talk about appearing cheap if/when we try to use it. We don’t actually get them as gift cards – it seems to be the new thing that if one is being a rebate on a purchase it will be a debit card. We got a US$30 one when we had to buy a new air conditioner for our home office and then one for $26.95 when we had to buy a new clothes dryer. (It was not an inexpensive year last year.)

Finally managed to use the $30 one when buying food at Walmart Supermarket. (This is not a regular Walmart – it is food and other supermarket items only.) I put the card in the reader and it applied the $30, then I went to pay the difference with our credit card – and I ended up having to call an employee over as it would not leave “debit card” to change to “credit card”. How embarrassing – “Hey, those old people couldn’t use their credit card after they used their debit card – boy, old people are stupid. Will similarly use the $26.95 card on next food shopping trip.

And then there is the card with 78c let on it – talk about looking cheap when we use it and have problems – yet again – switching to a credit card for the rest of the purchase.

We are only using the cards for groceries – would not like to buy something with it, decide to return the item and then have to deal with another debit card – at least I presume they will not post the return to our credit card or give us cash.

I am so glad that we do not exchange gifts with anyone* as that would probably result in more of these cards as there is generally nothing to buy us. In normal years I get no birthday, anniversary, Christmas or Chanukah or any other gift as I tell my husband “There is nothing I want or need – you are the first husband to accomplish this, by having bought me everything I could want already.” (Okay, there will be more teddy bears – I bought a small ornament one this past Christmas season, but only after he TALKED ME INTO BUYING IT – hey it was almost $3 and during the post Christmas markdowns, bought a bear who is intended to hold a , ironically yes, gift card – I am the type who has to think about spending $3 on such. :-) )

We only buy gifts for children, so we are down to only his younger niece to buy a gift for, for any reason.
