Perhaps Mitch4 could specify what the “CIDU elements” are? It’s hard to know what to explain; it all seems straightforward to me, except perhaps the identity of the “fan”.

Powers, that second part was the remark of editor ZBicyclist; I had submitted it as an OY simply, agreeing with you. Perhaps we are more familiar with the strip, but he was puzzled by background narrative elements.

At first I was CIDUed on the Potato Heads one, as I thought the “cling kang klong” sounds were the joke, and didn’t get it. They I saw what their weapons were.

As far as Rae the Doe, I don’t think you need to read the strip (I don’t). It’s just a pun on using a fan of the strip versus an air-moving device to cool her at night.

Yes, it’s a “single lexical ambiguity” pun, just as was the “I’m just looking to get a couple good waves” from Mutts I think, which also recently appeared.

The dueling heads strip certainly has appeal. I especially liked the way the artist pared the potatoes.
