A zombie allergic to brains, OK. How does “old married couple” figure in?
As a bonus, we’ll throw in what’s likely a momentary CIDU:

I’m afraid your momentary CIDU is rather more long lasting for me. Help would be appreciated.
I struggled with the bonus. If I understand it, it would have been easier if a) the car was red and b) he said Sammy rather than Sam.
If that is supposed to be Sammy Hagar, this is pretty much how he came to write “I Can’t Drive 55.” He was out of the country on tour when the 55 limit was imposed and got pulled over almost immediately after his return for driving normal highway speeds. He got a ticket, though.
My guess is that the zombies represent the old joke/trope of the new husband who doesn’t like his wife’s signature dish, but doesn’t want to hurt her feelings. As a result, they’re married fifty years and she makes it for him regularly thinking he loves it.
Only Max has to go 55, that’s it, right?
But since when does Sam hit the road without Max…
I suspect DemetriosX is spot on. But instead of the comic being a historical retelling, I think the idea was that even modern day cops know the universal truth that after almost fifty years Sammy Hagar still simply can’t drive 55.
I agree that DemetriosX probably has it. Interesting, though–I decided not to reply until I was on my PC. On my phone, the car DOES look (dark) red; on the PC it’s brown.
Hm, glad I actually watched the video–I would have bet large $ that it was a RED Ferrari. Mandela effect?!
I wasted time converting 90kph to 56mph, but that was just blasting down a dead end road.
Didn’t know Sammy Hagar, but I think BillyTheSkink got it. Clearly, the sign was meant for Max. Fortunately, the Hagar bit works well, too
Sam? Max? Now I’m lost. Are these recurring characters?
@phsiii: Sammy Hagar is a musician, “Sammy Hagar, an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He rose to fame with Montrose and Van Halen, and has released several solo albums” (Wikipedia)
The joke is that only people named Max have to drive 55. Similar to those signs that say “Speed limit 65 …. Trucks 60”. Substitute Max for Truck.
Yeah, ok, I saw that but it seemed disconnected from anything anyone would “get”. Thanks.
I find Wikipedia’s entry interesting–Montrose, yes; solo, yes; Van Halen was later, I wouldn’t have said “rose to fame with”. Odd.
Sam & Max are a comics/cartoon pair. Sam is a dog in a trenchcoat and fedora, Max is a “rabbity thing” with big teeth.
I’m with BillyTheSkink. Otherwise there wouldn’t be a need to have a nonstandard sign with MAX on it. The usual sign is:
The 55 MPH speed limit was back during the energy crisis of the 1970’s which was about 50 years ago. Who remembers it besides us geezers? Now it seems we have so much energy we can waste it on bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence large language model building with plenty left over to drive as fast as we want.
Sammy Hagar’s song takes on an entirely new meaning where I live. The maximum speed limit anywhere on the island is 50mph.
MiB the petroleum crunch was a political move by OPEC.
There were two crises. The second one, in the late 70s, brought us the first $1+ gas. At the time, I was working the family paper route. The truck used a lot of gas with 40 miles of suburban driving. I remember well waiting in lines, and stations with no gas.
I think the zombie wife is calling the zombie husband stupid.

If this is supposed to be the joke, it’s dumb that it isn’t a black Ferrari, like in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvV3nn_de2k
