Yes, yes! One of these guys sold me a “This is not a shirt” tee shirt.

…
Unless it was one of these guys! Number five looks very sus!

Boise Ed sent this one in, noting “The robotic lawn mower is just doing what it is supposed to do, right?”
Your editor, drawing from unfortunate personal experiences, sees allusions to the problems caused when one dog is on leash, but another dog is not, or maybe just barking dogs in general. So we’re marking this CIAU (Comic I almost understand)

I see the (obvious) connection between “Come Together” and its associated symptoms, but I have no idea what “Biktazen” is supposed to be, or whether it was just a fictional name. The closest thing I could find was “Biktarvy“, but that’s a real medication for HIV/AIDS, and as such would not be funny.
P.S. The second Bizarro reminded me of an episode of Rowan Atkinson’s “Mr. Bean”, in which each man in the lineup has a wire mesh trashcan over his head. Mr. Bean sticks each man with a pencil, until he identifies the camera thief on the basis of his distinctive “yelp”.
the robotic mower, being electric is silent. But in its head, it’s making the loud, gas mower noise.
The man at #4 in the first identity parade (lineup) is probably the same as the #5 in the second one. And probably a cameo self-portrait by Dan Piraro.
Yes the connection between “Come Together” and its listed symptoms is probably obvious – to readers familiar with the Beatles song. For those not so blessed, it is a track from Abbey Road and the listed symptoms are in the consciously fragmentary lyrics. In any case, listing them out this way shows how well the scansion matches.
Philip, that’s a plausible explanation, although my robotic roomba isn’t that silent. I’ve read that electric motorcycles aren’t selling well because they lack that big motorcycle noise.
zbicyclist: Ever since Tesla started taking off, I’ve been saying that they should offer DriveTones. These would be like phone ringtones: customize your vehicle’s sound. Want it to sound like a Ferrari? Sure. Two-stroke? Sure. Thumper? Sure.
This would solve the problem of electric bikes being too quiet, too.
I shoulda patented the idea …
@ Dana Kay (3) – Point taken. The Beatles’ official website has a page with the complete lyrics of “Come Together“. However, “Biktazen” is still a mystery, the only reference that Google produces was in a reader comment at GoComics, but since the page has since been updated, the text with that word is no longer present.
I thought engine sound effects were already a thing.
While I do appreciate mechanical noises, I’ve come to the conclusion that motorcycles and sports cars can be kind of obnoxious, particularly in my neighborhood late at night. Drivetones would be fine, if only the occupants of the vehicle could hear them. I don’t need their need to be noisy to be forced on my ears. :-D
Hmm? The “Biktazen” is not in the Patrinos/ Six Chix / Beatles cartoon, but the Next Door Neighbors one just below it.
@ Mitch (8) – Correct, but Biztaken is also a medication in search of a side effect. The Six Chix effects had clear connections to the medication’s name, so I thought this one should, too.
There are sounds added to EVs to make them audible to pedestrians. Apparently some manufacturers are providing more realistic noises for some models.
OK, I don’t think I understand the knife one. Is that a can opener next to him? Did he ‘open him up’ the last time? Is that it? That’s dark. I think it might be too dark for this comic, but it’s all I could come up with. Any help?
Stan: pen, sword…
Ohhhh, it’s a pen! And a sword! Gotcha’. Thanks. Still, there may be room in our lexicon for ‘The can opener is mightier than the knife.’ I’m going to try it out when the opportunity arises.
@ Stan (13) – I’m sure that Earl and Mooch (and even Snoopy) would strongly support your “can opener” aphorism.
Ah, you mean the saying “thepenismightierthanthesword”?
