No, it’s not an inexplicable synchronicity — this Wednesday was Periodic Table Day, as the Dave cartoon points out. Still, a pleasing convergence on the same choice of elements!
Where do they keep the magazines in a chemistry library?
On the periodical table.
Oxygen and Magnesium could have a pretty hot relationship, but it will burn out quickly.
Only Whammond scheduled this appearance, Lard is an old rerun (somewhere from 2012 to 2014) that just happened to land on the same day. So it really was just a random coincidence, worthy of the title “synchronicity”.
“Love is like Oxygen…”
P.S. @4 – A closer examination of the Lard archive at GoComics shows that it’s copyright line is a piece of boilerplate that was first attached in 2014, and (for mysterious reasons) has never been changed ever since then. It seems very strange, but it probably means that this strip is not a rerun after all.
P.P.S. @ Grawlix (5) – The only townsman even more despicable than Lehrer’s “Old Dope Peddler” is “the old earworm inflicter”. :-)
An old dance.
