The alteration of Grandpa to Grumpa is a nice secondary word joke. (Where “cuss word puzzle” is of course the main one.)

I often do the cuss-word puzzle [today’s Washington Post was a good example of a trivia-laden piece of excrement], and my user name at a certain site is Mr. Grumpy, so I loved that comic.

So, is Shoe at a used car lot or a classic car dealer? :-)

(I do recall the numerous strips featuring his DeSoto).

@ Mr. (+/-) Grumpy (3) – Where does the Post now print the Sunday crossword, now that they have unceremoniously torpedoed the Sunday Magazine and all of its employees?

Having recently been trying to buy a new car – this fellow is too honest compared to the car dealers we have visited. (Including the one who ran us through for a hard credit check without any info for us so we now each have a “hard” check on our credit reports. (We had not planned to buy THAT day and had not brought any financial info with us and dealer employees kept pushing us to make up numbers to give them for the loan – apparently they made up numbers. We were turned down for the loan as decades ago I locked our credit records – we forgot, but in the interim his credit report had become unlocked somehow which is where we found hit to credit to his report and we turned down (luckily – and despite their showing over 850 as his credit score) as mine was still locked and they could not see the info. Since we were not buying from them due to their hard push (at one point there were 8 people, plus credit manager, salesman, salesman’s apprentice in the room with us telling us to buy the car) and also that there info on interest and sales price had changed since we called – I guess it is good thing we were turned down, despite the hit to our credit reports – we are still trying to get it lifted from same.

This was not even a voluntary purchase – so far, so good – our old car has not died yet.
