I’m not sure what is supposed to be “CIDU” about this comic. Start with “Riverdance” and add the tenuous similarity between “claw” and “clog”, and there you have it. I would have tagged this post “LOL-OY”.

P.S. As for the operation, I’ll bet the neighbors downstairs would be all for it.

Well there’s your answer! Many people don’t know right off what “clog dancing” refers to; or more importantly, won’t reach “clog Dancing” as an association from “declogging our cat”.

That’s the reason for the CIDU subcategory about it requiribg a couple cultural references to understand the comic.

Kilby has it, but several of us didn’t get it immediately. I had to ‘hear’ it in my head before it came to me.

Oh, and before I got to enlightenment, I googled ‘cat clog’ and got…tons of hits about plugged catalytic convertors, which didn’t help at all!

To be perfectly honest, the tipoff that handed this one to me wasn’t the word “clog”, it was Eric Scott’s absolutely flawless depiction of the cat’s “Irish” dancing pose (both paw and foot positions are perfect).

I thought this one was more of a CIDU-Eww, as I thought “de-clogging” had to do with the cat really needing to (but being unable to) go to the sandbox

Alas! This one would have been tagged “Bill Doesn’t Understand Cats”

I got it right away, and it reminded me of (and possibly was aided by) a GEICO TV ad:

Well, I hope they believe in declogging their toilet if it becomes necessary.

I agree with Kilby, it was the pose that sold it. I didn’t even notice the cat was wearing clogs until it was pointed out.

I was trying to think of how a clogging amount of cat fur could get into a drain. But I was forgetting about litter! I generally use a scoop-and-top-up system, so do have to be cautious about the volume going down any single flush.
