May I put in a word about declawing? Not that anybody here needs it…
When they declaw a cat, they amputate the toe up to the first joint. In most places in Europe, they consider it animal abuse. There are better ways to keep your kitty from tearing up your stuff.
Kilby, the comment had come from a name I recognize, I wouldn’t have pointed to the FAQ. I thought it might be useful, though, for someone new to this site, which I think he is.
I didn’t recognize the name either, but Bob has been reading and commenting for over a year. Besides, even the most prolific posters may overlook a tag from time to time. ;-)
Regarding the Escher one: the last time I went to Escher in Het Paleis, the only really immersive exhibit was the Ames room. But this does seem to be a natural extension of the idea.
I didn’t read the first comment as an explanation. I read it as comment of discussion. I interpreted it to mean there is a TV commercial that made the same joke.
“Pity the Escher-referring comic was drawn with considerably less skill than Escher’s original engraving.”
We’re criticizing that a daily seven days a week filler comic that’s been running for twenty-five years is not done with as much skill as a master major work of a major artist? Wow… tough room.
Don’t think so. Mine has a tube-man driving a car which is the exact same joke as the rubes (although Rubes had the vision to make it a convertable). Yours just has tube-men. And mine is a TV commercial for on-line car sails. Yours is a fictional commercial for tube-men.
Pretty sure the Rubes was just riffing on a TV commercial for on-line car sales.

Bob Peters, these are LOLs, not CIDUs. (See the FAQ: https://godaddyandthesquirrelmustbothdie.wordpress.com/cidus-and-donts-the-faq/ .)
Also, I think it’s just riffing on all of the forced-air flapping things that many retailers use.

@ Arthur – Ouch. Just because someone offers an opinion about the meaning of a comic doesn’t mean we need to toss back with the FAQ.

And I will add here the docking of dogs’ tails and ears is also considered animal abuse.

Guy goes to the barber shop:
“You Bob Peters?”
“No, just shave and a haircut.”

So, Bob, I apologize for overstating, and for not recognizing your name.

I don’t think those would make very good sails.
